Chaka Khan.....................Chaka Khan is one of the most popular and richest R&B Singer who was born on March 23 1953 in Chicago Illinois United States. R&B performer whose version of The Prince song I Feel for You was hugely popular. The frontwoman for Rufus.'s I Feel for You is widely regarded as an instant hit. Rufus is her other band. Khan was raised a Catholic. She went to her parish of Hyde Park Saint Thomas the Apostle Church as her elementary school. She attributed her love of music to her grandmother who introduced her to jazz as an infant. Khan was first exposed to the rhythm and blues while at the age of preteens. At the age of 11, Khan began a group along with Taka who is one of Khan's sisters. Khan was an advocate of civil rights with Connie Khan's father's second wife in the 60s, went to several rallies. In 1967 she joined the Black Panther Party and became acquainted with Fred Hampton a Chicago born activist. Khan has said that regardless of the fact that a lot of claim that she got the name Chaka when she was in the Panthers. The name Chaka Adunne Aduffe hostarhi Karifi was given to her at the age of 13 old from a Yoruba Baba. After leaving the Panthers she stopped attending high school, after having been a student for a year at Calumet High School. The first time she performed was in Chicago in bands of small size with her partner Hassan Khan. Chaka along with Hassan Khan wed in the late 1970s.
