Lee Roy Selmon has a story that has a family history of scholarship football with social service. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was along with three brothers from Oklahoma. They were all All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the United States by Outland Lombardi, the Outland Awards. In his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-0 and secured two national championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. The year 1988 was the first time he started working as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed with the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder Lee Roy was named one of the 10 most notable young men across the United States by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing a little over 256 pounds. He played for his school's team in the year 1975. Lee Roy was appointed the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1988 the year he was a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was inducted into his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 in 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Senior. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
